Mgarr Harbour

This beautiful harbour is where the Gozo Channel lines ferry departs every 45 minutes taking passengers and cars back and forth to the main island of Malta. It’s a real hub of activity with the many boats, restaurants and bars surrounding the water’s edge. The hop-on buses pick people up and drop them off here too.

The hillside church Lourdes Chapel gives the illusion of being large on the harbour approach but is actually small and narrow. It and Ft. Chambray overlook the village of Ghajnsielem and Mgarr.

I spent two days mid-day to capture this one standing on a trail opposite the ferry. Oil on canvas 50cm x 70cm.
