Garden Iris

The color of these bearded iris was very different, with soft pink and red-purple hues.These were the only iris in my garden this year.  They are with a cactus and succulents transplanted in the back yard a few years back which are getting pretty big. Deer love succulents which I found out as they had come up two flights of stairs to the front door to have a bite.

Tahoe Art League paints Iris Gardens near Placerville on May 10th, so that may be the last opportunity to paint these lovely flowers this spring. I am so fortunate to get two springs – one in the Bay Area and the other in the mountains!
