This beautiful Belgian city was one we traveled through several times on our boat this past summer. It was a very grey day as can be the case with stone buildings in low light. The fortress and the city off the river Meuse have a rich history. This castle built in 1818 replaced the earlier one which was dismantled in 1715 due to the many attacks. The city wanted to make it a less desirable target. Oil on linen 12″ x 16″.
